Jesse is not just a co-owner of Southside Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Alaska. His journey began in the military, serving as an infantry paratrooper with multiple combat deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. This background has instilled in him a discipline and resilience that resonate within the walls of the academy.

Passion for the Mat

After retiring from the military, Jesse embraced his passion for martial arts. A black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he has competed vigorously in the Alaska Fighting Championship, garnering both knockout wins and losses. His experience in mixed martial arts not only highlights his skills but also his dedication to continuous improvement, which he instills in his students.

As part owner and operator at Southside Jiu-Jitsu Academy, Jesse is dedicated to building a thriving community. Alongside his two friends, he focuses on creating an inclusive environment where individuals can learn self-defense, gain confidence, and enhance their overall fitness. Jesse’s extensive knowledge from his combat experience and martial arts training makes him an invaluable instructor, offering insights that go beyond just techniques.
